Scott Bucknell

Scott Bucknell started Race Hawaii in 1984 on Oahu’s North Shore.

He has surfed and shaped surfboards since 1971 in this extreme sport location. While involved with design and manufacturing in surfing, he came upon the idea of using "RACE" for surfboards, events and products while watching the Indianapolis 500 on TV. He quickly realized the name stood for action and speed and should be applied to all sports.

Paul Nichol

Artist  Shaper  Sculpturer

I started surfing and repairing surfboards at 13 years old. It soon progressed to making surfboards and working in the industry.
My first job was working at Carabine Surfboards (who has been glassing Nichol Surfboards since 2000, reacquainting our long association.) Then I worked at Skipp as a shaper during the 70's with Kevin Parkinson, Terry Richardson and the Byrne brothers being some of the great surfers working there at that time.
