                                             A CHANGE IN SURFING

GORDAN and SMITH, TRESTLE SPECIALS, SURFBOARDS HAWAII, SURFBOARDS MAKAHA (Ben AIPA)  , DEWEY WEBER ,

RICK surfboardsand Donald  TAKEYAMA , HOBIE,  PHIL EDWARDS (around -

all supplied their wonderful talent in surfboard DESIGN . Shapes and lengths changed fast. Tremendous  aquatic understanding made each of these superb experts famous. Surfboard transition  had gone from slow to quick.

I went from riding a 9'6"to an 8'4"AIPA,  to a 7'8" AIPA Surfboards MAKAHA  in 6 months.  I was told by my surfing experts in the neighborhood, I would NEVER be able to handle the 7 8.

I surfed beyond my wildest dreams, quickly on the AIPA 7'8"

I  shaped some experimental boards, some not too good.

My own 6' 6" one month later. I was 17.  I could barely paddle the thing, but when I caught a wave, whoa. !

The young surfers in HAWAII , with JOCK IN THE LEAD,  replaced the old , without knowing w hat was happening

. Surfing, became a go anywhere, do anything approach replacing NOSERIDING and longboard trim surfing, in one year.

From 9'6" to 6' 6", with the phenomenal David Nuhiwa hanging ten , for 10 seconds at The WORLD CONTEST and NAT YOUNG, DESTROYING EVERY Wave.

"Pocket rockets were in, and longboards and all their glory,

were GONE.y

NAT YOUND WAS 1st.

(Jock came in 2nd, by the  way.).
